How do you celebrate your Christmas holidays?

Here are some questions to help:
Do you like Christmas? Why or why not?

When do you celebrate Christmas?
What do you do at Christmas over the holidays?
Who do you spend it with?
Do you travel somewhere or stay in Piombino?
What traditions do you have in your family?
Who do you exchange presents with?
Do you spend a lot of money?
Do you eat any special foods?
Do you decorate your house inside and out?
Do you decorate a tree and make a Nativity Scene?
Are there any favorite movies you watch or music you listen to?

OR you can write a letter to Santa Claus:

Dear Santa Claus,
My name is George.  I have been a very good boy this year. I help my mom wash the dishes every night, clean my room on weekends and help my dad wash the car when he asks me. I take the dog out every day after school and feed it in the evenings. I am also nice to my little brother, even though he can be really annoying sometimes.
I am studying hard this year.  I am getting good grades at school because I always do my homework.
Thank you for bringing me the sweatsuit last year.  I really liked it and all my friends complimented me when I wore it to football practice.  This year I would like a kitten and some new headphones.  My parents might not want a kitten, so the headphones might be better.  I love listening to music, but sometimes my family doesn't like what I listen to.
Please give my love to Mrs. Claus, the elves, and all the reindeer, especially Rudolph. I will leave some carrots for the reindeer next to your milk and cookies.
Love,
George

March 8 - International Women's Day in Italy

The first  Women’s Day celebration in Italy was organized by

the Unione Donne Italiane in 1946.

The country was not yet a republic, and although women had obtained the right

to vote, they would have to wait until June 6th, 1946, before exercising that right in

the referendum to choose between the kingdom and a  new republic.

Many women had been very important in the resistance movement during the war, fighting against fascism and foreign occupation. Three ex-combatants, Teresa Noce (T0), Rita Montagnana (TO), and Teresa Mattei (GE), chose mimosa flowers as a symbol for the Giornata internazionale di lotta e di festa della donna.  The flowers
were not chosen for any specific symbolic meaning, but because they blossom during this time of year and that
"… mimosas were abundant and available at almost no cost…”.
Since then, women have been filling Italian streets and squares to emphasize the urgent problems that need to be faced in order to change their status and condition, in hopes of liberating themselves from the oppression of a male dominated society.

On March 6th, 1978, a meeting of the Turin provincial assembly of confederated trade unions established the mimosa
as a symbol of social mobilization:  “it is not an empty ritual. It is our moment as women; it is a moment to recover energy and strength and to continue our fight to change our lives and our society.”
