5L Writing Practice - the introduction

TOPIC-- Write about your favorite literary period, the author you enjoyed reading about the most, and why.

TITLE--Gives a clear focus

Start with an OUTLINE to organize your work.

INTRODUCTION--Present your main idea and arguments (briefly). Grab attention. Use a quotation or ask a question.

BODY--Backs up your intro with proof, explanations, and details.
Write a topic sentence as a mini-intro or main idea, then explain with evidence and examples.

CONCLUSION: Ties everything together.
                          Restates main points.
                          Strong, final statement.
